Our Mission

There's nothing better than knowing Christ and so we try to do all we can to help people know Christ better. But the first step is to come to know Christ as Lord and Saviour. So we also want to do all we can to introduce people to Christ.

"To make Christ fully known to everyone...

...To make everyone fully grown in Christ"

What We Believe

A. Vision
Our vision is that Christ be supreme

B. Mission
    a. Statement
Our mission is to build Christ's church

    b. Focus:
We will focus our activities on four interrelated 'E's' found in Christ
            i. Evangelising: building people INTO God's house
ii. Edifying: building people UP in their faith
iii. Equipping: building people FOR service in God's house
iv. Entreating: building people BY prayerfully depending on God

    c. Values
Four core standards characterise all we do and flow from Christ
            i. Love: how we live. Binds the other three together and strengthens the building. Our love for one another flows from our love for God. Love is foundational for all godliness and produces the other values
ii. Service: how we build. Two aspects of service- everyone is equal and active, ie every member minister/ministry
iii. Unity: how we relate. What service produces. The characteristic of corporate maturity, ie united as one in Christ. Unity is the goal of the structure and operates as the mortar
iv. Truth: What we believe and speak but we must speak the truth in love. eg Creeds. Christ and His scriptures is the foundation of the structure.

    d. Instruments
The main instruments for achieving our goals are the three 'P's
            i. Prayer. Because God is in control of all things, prayer must be an integral tool. Goals are under God and dependent upon his grace
ii. Proclamation: this is much broader than just 'preaching'. It is proclaiming Christ in many contexts
iii. People: because the structure is made of people, people become an important tool in servicing the structure.

Our Doctrinal Basis

We are an evangelical Anglican church. This means we hold to the ultimate authority and sufficiency of the Bible in all matters of faith and practice; and that we are bound by the doctrine expressed in The 39 Articles of Religion.

For simplicity, we find the doctrinal basis of IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) to be a good, modern summary of our fundamental beliefs.

  1. The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  2. The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.
  3. The divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  4. The universal sinfulness and guilt of all people since the fall, rendering them subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  5. Redemption from the guilt, penalty, dominion and pollution of sin, solely through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
  6. The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and His ascension to the right hand of God the Father.
  7. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration.
  8. The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone.
  9. The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
  10. The one Holy Universal Church which is the Body of Christ and to which all true believers belong.
  11. The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
